New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. will once again lead a holiday season toy drive that will support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. New, unwrapped toys for children can be dropped off at Assemblyman Thiele’s office in Bridgehampton (2302 Main Street, Suite A) from Monday, November 28th through Wednesday, December 14th. Assemblyman Thiele’s office will be open between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“I am so proud to be a part of such a fine organization that helps make the holidays special for children who are less fortunate,” said Assemblyman Thiele. “I encourage residents to take part in the Toys for Tots program and drop off a new, unwrapped toy to my office.”
This is an incredible opportunity to give back to your community and make a child’s day with a small contribution – whether it’s the hottest toy of the season or a classic like Legos. “If everyone does their part we can make this holiday season a magical one for children,” he added.
Established in 1947, the mission of Toys for Tots has been to provide children with less fortunate backgrounds the chance to experience the joy a child has upon receiving a gift. Toys for Tots was approved as an official activity of the U.S. Marine Corps and an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve by the Secretary of Defense in 1995. With the expansion of the program and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s full-fledged support, the Marines have handed out more than 500 million toys to over 200 million children.
