The popular Montauk Farmers Market has once again come through for the Montauk Food Pantry. Each year a portion of the proceeds from the Farmers Market, which is presented by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce, is donated to the Food Pantry. Last year’s Farmers Market resulted in a generous $8,705 donation, which was a compilation of vendor fees raised from the 2016 season. This marked the sixth year the beloved summer event supported the local pantry.
Located in the lower level of the St. Therese Parish Center (67 South Essex Street, Montauk), the Montauk Food Pantry, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, distributes food on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, November through April. The Pantry’s goal is to ensure that residents have access to one of our most basic needs: safe, nutritious food. In addition to accepting donations at the Food Pantry, contributions can also be dropped off at the Montauk Community Church, St. Therese Catholic Church, and Montauk Library.

Executive Director of the Chamber, Laraine Creegan, notes that giving back to the community through events like the Farmers Market is essential for the Chamber. “We are much more than a visitor and business information center; we are partners in community and educational programs such as the food pantry that give back to the community and enhance the quality of life here,” Creegan explained.
35 vendors participated in last year’s Farmers Market, including Amagansett Sea Salt Co., Amber Waves Farm, Balsam Farms, Bhumi Farms, Carissa’s Breads, Hampton Chocolate Factory, Hamptons Brine, Montauk Brewing, Montauk Juice Facorty, Mecox Bay Dairy, Pierpont’s Blossom Farms, Wolffer Estate Vineyards, Clarkson Ave Crumb Cakes, Hampton Chocolate Factory, Lady J Seafood, Pete’s Endless Summer, the Glowing Tent, and many more. It was an absolutely delightful season with the unique variety of tastes and flavors offered, and the Chamber is looking forward to another successful season in 2017.
This year’s Farmers Market in Montauk debuts on Thursday, June 8 and runs through Thursday, September 29, every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. As per usual, it will take place on the Green and host a plethora of unique vendors selling their products. Products will range from baked goods to gourmet specialties to a variety of local sips, more.
So, if you find yourself in Montauk on a Thursday during the summer months, don’t forget to support the local community with your purchases of these incredible local goods.
