Runners ready for a new challenge are in luck because The Titan Run 5K Obstacle Run is back on the East End. Taking place at the 4H Camp in Riverhead on Saturday, September 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., this year’s race will feature over 28 different obstacles. There will also be a Tiny Titan Race for kids 4 to 9-years-old.
“Obstacles do not block the path, they are the path,” explained Connie Pellechia, President of The Titan Run.
This 5K race – that was established in 2014 – is a timed, obstacle course race (OCR) that encompasses a variety of taxing obstacles located throughout the heavily wooded terrain course that tests your ability to run, jump, crawl and shoot. Competitors can expect to be pushed to the limits and feel a camaraderie with fellow runners as you work together in your quest to cross the finish line.
The Tiny Titan Race will include a 1/4 mile run with over 10 obstacles in order to introduce kids to OCR racing.
Once you’ve crossed the finish line, you will be greeted with an array of vendors, music, food and drink, and much deserved celebration.
On the day of the race, runners should bring their ticket, photo ID and appropriate footwear. It is also recommended that you bring a change of clothes, gloves and bug spray because of the trails that you will be on. All participants will receive a finishers photo, a finishers medal, a ticket for beer or water after the race and access to the after party.
The Titan Run Corp. is a Long Island-based company that holds two runs a year, a spring event in Center Moriches and a fall one in Riverhead. Each race features new obstacle courses and challenges for participant. This run is recommended for children 10-years-old and up.
Registration for The Titan Run is $59 and registration for The Tiny Titan is $15. Parking is $10.
The 4H Camp that the race will take place at is located at 3186 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. For more information visit www.thetitanrun.com.
