A Walk On Water (AWOW), a non-profit organization that provides Surf Therapy to individuals with special needs, is hosting its 3rd annual East Coast Surf Therapy Event at Ditch Plains Beach in Montauk this September.

“The East End warmly welcomed A Walk On Water three years ago and it’s our privilege and honor to be returning to this wonderful community annually to share the magic that is Surf Therapy,” shared Steven Lippman, President, A Walk On Water. “The positive effects of an AWOW Surf Therapy days are beautiful to witness. From water safety to bystanders, everyone at the beach gets to be part of it, cheering on these incredible kids and adults, making the day special for the families.”

On Friday, Sepember 8 and Saturday, Sepember 9, AWOW will welcome a courageous group of kids and adults who will have the chance to “walk on water,” with a little bit of help from AWOW volunteers. The event provides a real thrill for participants who get to experience the soothing and therapeutic effects of the exhilarating ocean through surfing and the chance for both athletes and their families to enjoy a day of joy, leisure and excitement.

The two-day event at Ditch Plains will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday evening, A Walk On Water Fundraiser will be held at The Montauk Beach House from 6 to 9 p.m. The benefit will feature a silent auction, raffle, music, art, craft, lots of good vibes, a Jack Luber DJ Set, and more.

Brown, The Corcoran Group, The Sax Leader Foundation, and The Montauk Beach House are hosting the 3rd annual East Coast Surf Therapy Event, sponsored by John Paul Mitchell Systems, with support from Whalebone Magazine, East Hampton Town, Long Island Communities of Practice, BJ’s Wholesale, Left Hand Coffee, Ditch Witch, Happy Bowls, Surf Lodge, Duryeas, Atlantic Terrace, Solé East, Harmless Harvest, and more.

“A Walk On Water has been such a wonderful addition to the community on the East End. I’ve seen the positive effects of the program first hand as both a volunteer and as the parent of an athlete,” added Walt Lindveld, Head of AWOW’s East Coast Chapter. “We look forward to welcoming our West Coast AWOW brothers and sisters back to Montauk, and continuing to grow the program on the East Coast in the coming year so we can serve more deserving families.”

Those interested in participating should pre-register online by Monday, September 4 and AWOW is also looking for volunteers for the 3rd annual East Coast Surf Therapy Event at Ditch Plains Beach. Those interested in volunteering can learn more on AWOW’s website.

  • Did You Know That Seagulls Love Spaghetti?

I have no idea who was the first person to think of bringing a bowl of spaghetti to the beach to share with a seagull but my money’s on Jackson Pollack who happened to love spaghetti after having it for the first time at 18.

  • Sensational Food at the 1770 House

All I can say is wow. JUST WOW!

The 1770 House is the real deal. It’s some of the best fine dining that the Hamptons has to offer. Executive Chef Michael Rozzi has put together a menu that is hard to beat and the restaurant is run by long-time manager, Carol Covell. I want to get to the food because that’s the real star of the show, but the people that work here are also. @1770house
