Hamptons-Based Animal Rescue Celebrating Adoption And Our Four Legged Friends

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF) will host its annual Alumni Reunion and Pet Celebration Day on Saturday, May 4.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the ARF Adoption Center in Wainscott will welcome former ARFans and their owners, as well as other friendly Hamptons pets during the furtastic gathering. All, humans, dogs (on leashes) and their cats (in carriers), are welcome – whether the animals were rescued from ARF or not.

“The event is open to all pet lovers, whether or not they have a former ARFan,” Jamie Berger, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. Director of Marketing & Communications, shared.

There will be plenty of activities for both people and pets. Animals will have a blast on the agility course, noshing on treats, and with Pet Celebration Day contests. Their parents can learn a little bit more about their companions during “Ask the Behaviorist” with Dr. Barbara Pezzinate. Randy Handwerger of SS Aqua Dog will be onsite to provide insight about hydrotherapy, therapeutic massage, reiki, and cold laser therapy for dogs. For those looking to update their outdoor oasis and most likely their pets’ favorite hangout, don’t miss the plant sale with landscaper, designer and consultant Anita Cheikin Heiser, which benefits ARF, and if you need a new coffee table book, there will be copies of Privileged Pups by Carol Saxe available for sale for just $10, in support of ARF. Those that purchase the book will receive a complimentary 5 x 7 sketch from Saxe of their dog that she will do during the event.

When attendees need to refuel, they can enjoy coffee donated by Hampton Coffee Company and eat freshly made donuts from the Dreesen’s Donut Truck. Fetching Fields will be on hand offering samples of their certified-organic dog treats, as will Ollie Pet Food who will provide their fresh meals made from real ingredients. Eventgoers can spin the Solid Gold wheel for a chance to win a free bag of America’s first natural & holistic pet food.

ARF will also hold a low-cost vaccine clinic (for cats and dogs only), offering FVRCP, DA2PP, bordetella, rabies (1 year) and microchipping for just $10 each. The fee is $25 per vaccine for unaltered animals. “This year the celebration will feature a wellness theme as well as a low cost vaccine and microchip clinic,” Berger noted.

Each year the day not only serves as a celebration of ARFans, but for adoption overall and the joy that animals bring to a household. While some of the former ARFans may have new names or changed in appearance a bit, the ARF staff is always thrilled for the reunion. There will be several current ARFans at the event that are looking to share their love and find a permanent place to call home.

“We are hoping the community will take advantage of these low cost services,” she added.
