Wölffer Estate Vineyard is commemorating their 31st vintage, and the start of summer, by inviting the community to join them at the 2nd Annual Bud Break 5K at The Wine Stand at Wölffer Estate on Sunday, May 19.
“We are so excited to be hosting our second annual Bud Break 5K again,” Wölffer co-owner Joey Wölffer, who is ecstatic to be participating in the event again with her husband and two daughters, relayed. “We were overwhelmed with the love and excitement around the event from the community last year, and want to continue to encourage wellness, community, and charity from our neighbors.”
The event will commence at 9 a.m. After the quick 3.1 mile frolic through the spectacular Wölffer vineyard and prized equestrian fields, 5Kers can relax with light bites and coffee from Sag Harbor’s Grindstone Coffee and Donuts, live music, games, and No. 139 Ciders and non-alcoholic Petite Rosé. Those that complete the 5K will be rewarded with a complimentary glass of cider.
“The proceeds from this year’s event are going to Every Mother Counts, an organization near to my heart that works to achieve quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care for all by giving grants and working with partners and thought leaders to increase awareness and mobilize communities to take action,” Wölffer added.
Tragically, hundreds of thousands of girls and women pass away every year as a result of pregnancy or childbirth complications, and 90 percent of these deaths are preventable. Every Mother Counts, which was founded by Christy Turlington, works to ensure that pregnancy and childbirth are safe for every mom, no matter where they live.
The 2nd Annual Bud Break 5K entry fee is $45 for adults and $25 for children.
