We are just over 1 week away from Memorial Day, so don’t forget the most essential summer accessory for your time in the Hamptons: a beach parking permit! We’ve compiled all you need to know about permit regulations for each town.
What Beaches Need What Permits?
A Southampton Town Beach Parking Permit will cover parking for all beaches between Westhampton Dunes, East Quogue, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Water Mill, Bridgehampton, Sagaponack and Noyac.
If you would like to go to any beaches in East Hampton, Amagansett or Montauk, you will need to purchase an East Hampton Town Beach Parking Permit.
If you purchased a 2023 Beach Parking Permit, that will still be valid until June 30th, 2024. The 2024 Beach Permits will be required for beach parking access for weekends beginning May 25th, 2024 and 7 days a week starting June 29th, 2024 until Labor Day.
How Much Does A Beach Parking Permit Cost?
For any Southampton Town Resident, the permit pass costs $50. For any Southampton Town Senior Resident (62 Years of Age and Older) the permit pass costs $40. All non-residents can purchase a full season pass for $450. For all Year-Round-Renters in the Hamptons, you can receive your own beach parking permit by simply providing three utilities bills. If you are an employee of Southampton Town, you can purchase a beach parking permit for the full season for $75.
If you are a Southampton Village property owner, or year-round village renter you are eligible for 3 beach parking permits, free of charge. If you are a local non-village resident or non-village renter, you are eligible for one beach parking permit for $250.
Be careful when purchasing a beach parking permit for East Hampton Village or East Hampton Town, as there is a “no refund” policy for purchasing the wrong permits. For a Non-Resident, an East Hampton Village Beach Parking Permit can be purchased for $750 for the full season (May 15, 2024, to September 15, 2024). If you would like to purchase an East Hampton Village Beach Parking Permit for only one month, the pricing is as follows: $250 for May 15th to June 30th, $300 for the entire month of July, and $300 for August 1, 2024, to September 15th, 2024.
If you wish to purchase a beach parking permit as a Town of East Hampton Resident, Non-Resident, or year-round renter, you’ll need to call the Town Clerk’s Office at 631-324-4142 for pricing and purchasing information.
What Happens If I Park At The Beach Without A Permit?
If you are caught parking in a permit-only location, you will be charged a $100 fine.
Here’s to a summer under the sun in the Hamptons!
