As a dad in the Hamptons, I’m always looking for activities to do with my kid. Having activities I know I can trust for good father-daughter time is crucial; I call them “Hamptons Dad Resources.” Recently, I’ve been loving my Saturday morning family dance class at Southampton Cultural Center with the A&G Dance Company.
Gail Baranello is an all-around pro. She’s an accomplished dancer, an impressive teacher, and a fantastic leader.
She is the owner of A&G Dance company and is a true expert at teaching kids dance and movement. I got word about her Saturday morning movement class for children under 3 years old from Brendan Connelly, a fellow Dad and real estate agent at Saunders & Associates.
For $15, you can meet Gail and a group of other kids and parents in the lower level of the Southampton Cultural Center and spend an hour singing songs, dancing, jumping, and clapping. It’s excellent, and Gail knows how to really keep the show going. She sticks with a routine familiar to all parents and kids, including singing “Wheels on the Bus” and “Head and Shoulders/Knees and Toes.”
I am always on the lookout for things like this to keep my daughter socializing as much as possible with children her age in a safe and fun setting. Especially after all the craziness these last few years, dancing around with other families just feels normal in the right way. As a father, these are experiences I’ve grown to really appreciate.
The class I attended was just one of many that Gail leads, ranging from full-on ballet classes for older kids, teaching great art with beginners to advanced moves. It’s all her and her husband keeping things moving and she’s a real asset to the parental community of the Hamptons.
To get involved in her Saturday class at 9:30am at the Southampton Cultural Center you can shoot her a text at (631) 921-6406. I highly recommend her and anything that she organizes for the youth of the area.
She’s a great Hamptons Dad resource!
