Almond in Bridgehampton, a fixture in the Hamptons since it opened in the spring of 2001, has announced that Jeremy Blutstein, who previously helmed East by Northeast in Montauk, has joined the Almond team as chef de cuisine.
Blutstein, who is known for his strong commitment to local products and local produce, will work alongside Executive Chef Jason Weiner. “Joining the team at Almond is an organic transition for me,” shared Blutstein. “Jason and I have very similar beliefs in utilizing the bounty that our super tight community produces.”
After graduating from New York Restaurant School, Blutstein fine-tuned his expertise during stints at several noteworthy eateries. For many years, he split his time between New York City and Montauk where he spent time in the kitchen of Eataly, Margaux and Tremont – his irresistible eats there earned him a James Beard Award nomination. Eventually, he settled in Montauk, joining the Crow’s Nest team, and after that he went on to work at East by Northeast as executive chef.
“Cooking seasonally on the East End is made fun by the personal connections we make with the farmers, fisherman, baymen, and local artisans,” Blutstein explained. “Expect great things from an already dope kitchen to continue with an enormous amount of fun.”
Almond Executive Chef Jason Weiner is a fan of Blutstein’s dedication to the area’s purveyors. “This is a guy who shares our commitment to localism, old school technique, and ethnic/street food/peasant cuisine. He’s also a friend,” said Weiner. “Super psyched to have him on our crew.”
The duo is absolutely ecstatic to be working together. “The culinary dream team has been assembled….bring the ruckus….Food Is Bond,” said Blutstein.
“Our restaurant just got a hell of a lot better,” added Weiner.
