Community Potluck Dinner To Highlight Local Ingredients And Stunning Hamptons Landscapes

Peconic Land Trust and Slow Food East End are teaming up to celebrate local ingredients and dishes that highlight them during a Summertime Community Potluck Dinner at the Trust’s Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton. The communal meal will take place on Thursday, July 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“The Peconic Land Trust is very happy to work with our friends at Slow Food East End to host a potluck dinner at our public garden in Bridgehampton,” said Kathy Kennedy, Outreach Manager for Peconic Land Trust. “Featuring our 22 community garden plots, large vegetable, herb and fruit beds, Bridge Gardens’ year-round programs teach people how easy it is to grow their own food, and how to harvest and prepare healthy and delicious meals in ways that have a low impact on our environment.”

Everyone is asked to bring a homemade appetizer or dessert to share, made with local ingredients that can serve six to eight people. Attendees are also asked to bring serving utensils and your local favorite beverage. The potluck will be held outdoors so it is recommended that you bring a blanket or beach chair to sit on.

Bridge Gardens Garden Manager, Rick Bogusch will also provide a guided walk through the gardens. “This summer potluck will be a fun evening of sharing and camaraderie centered around food, and we look forward to a relaxing walk with our garden manager, Rick Bogusch, as he guides everyone through the edible landscapes at the garden,” added Kennedy.

The Peconic Land Trust is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1983. The Trust works to protect farmland and has successfully conserved more working farms on Long Island than any other private conservation organization. Slow Food East End works to encourage people to eat and shop locally in order to connect the community with the environment.

Admission to the potluck is $15 for Slow Food and Bridge Gardens members, and $20 for everyone else. The fee supports both organizations’ educational programs. Space is limited and reservations are required. The event’s rain date is Thursday, July 13.
