Project MOST’s Empty Bowls Benefit Celebrating Its 10th Anniversary

On Sunday, March 10, bring your appetite to the American Legion Post 419 in Amagansett where the Project MOST 2019 Empty Bowls Event will showcase a variety of delicious soups prepared by over 30 local chefs and restaurants.

“Project MOST is proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Empty Bowls. The interest and turnout for this event are a shining example of the far reaching impact that our program has had on the entire community,” Rebecca Morgan Taylor, Project MOST Executive Director, expressed. “Since 2000, our enrichment programs have touched the lives of over 6,000 students (350 students daily) and their working families who are the backbone of this community.”

From 12 to 3 p.m. attendees can sample the ultimate winter comfort food from participants that are expected to include Almond Restaurant, Art of Eating, Bostwick’s Catering, Mill House Inn, A Kitchen 4 Liam, Nick & Toni’s, La Fondita, One Stop Market, The Springs General Store, Stuart’s Seafood Market, Dreesen’s Donuts, Estia’s Little Kitchen, Wolffer Kitchen, and Sabrosa.

“The support from restaurants, chefs, local businesses, and our families is a tribute to our essential work,” Morgan Taylor expressed. “We are very grateful.”

The afternoon will also celebrate Colin Ambrose of Estia’s Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor who will be honored with the 2nd “Empty Bowl” Award for his continual championing of the East Hampton-based after school enrichment program. The longtime Project MOST supporter has lent his culinary expertise to the Empty Bowls benefit since its founding, and Ambrose also hosted the non-profit’s tremendously successful 2015 Eileen’s Angels event, and he also backs Project MOST’s yearly plant sale.

“The restaurants, chefs and local businesses should be applauded for their continuing participation each year for the past ten years. We are thrilled to honor Colin Ambrose (Estia’s Little Kitchen) this year by giving him the 2nd Annual ‘Empty Bowl’ award,” Morgan Taylor lauded. “His past support for Project MOST and this event, the 2015 Eileen’s Angels Fundraiser as well as being a supporter of our yearly plant sale make him the ideal Honoree. Thank you Colin!”

The Wellness Foundation will once again have a presence at Empty Bowls. For the second year in a row the Foundation will highlight a variety of nutritious “W” plant based options.

As this is a monumental occasion, there will be a special 10th Anniversary birthday cake, provided by Carissa’s Bakery. Additional sweets will include donuts from Dreesen’s.

“Join us at our 10th Anniversary of Empty Bowls on March 10th to help us to raise money for our essential after school enrichment programs that inspire and engage our 350 students everyday!” she added. “Come meet our students and families as well as our student leaders (high school and college students) to experience first hand how important our program is to this community!”

The afternoon will also include live music from Mike Rusinsky.

Project MOST, which was founded in 2000 under the umbrella of East Hampton Day Care, offers essential after school care. Since its inception, the non-profit organization has impacted nearly 6,000 local elementary school students from the Springs Public School and John M. Marshall Elementary School in East Hampton, offering a variety of enriching programming and also academic assistance programs.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 13 and under, and free for children under five years. There will also be “to go” quarts available for $15.

“Come fill up your bowl with endless delicious soup and support the organization that supports our students and the future of East Hampton,” she concluded.
