After spending a few summers at a Three Mile Harbor Road location, Moby’s is back at its Pantigo Road outpost. In addition to returning to its previous home, this summer the East Hampton eatery welcomed Chef Mark Ladner as their new Culinary Director and also introduced a new Moby’s Market offering home, food and lifestyle items.
We spoke with Moby’s co-owner, Nick Hatsatouris, about returning to Pantigo Road, this year’s culinary focus, the new market and more.
Why return to 341 Pantigo Road?
NH: Moby’s has always been about nice food in a laidback setting, and the location at 341 Pantigo Road has always allowed us to bring those two elements together in harmony. Not only is the property beautiful and the location ideal, but the space itself has a really personal feeling and a nice warmth that captures what we love about having a restaurant out east. We’ve always wanted Moby’s to feel like we’re inviting you in to our home and this property captures the perfect energy for that.
Tell us a little bit about culinary focus this year.
NH: We’re fortunate that this year we’ve got some amazing talent in the kitchen. Our new menu highlights warm weather coastal cooking of the Italian Adriatic – simple, ingredient driven dishes. Think marinated vegetables from our favorite local farms, crisp wood oven pizzas, traditional al dente pastas, crunchy salads, Montauk seafood, and freshly spun fruit-based ice creams.
Moby’s Market launched earlier this summer. What will shoppers find?
NH: Having just launched in early July, Moby’s Market makes use of a portion of our restaurant’s interior as a lifestyle shop featuring curated goods. We’ve got pantry items like pastas and sauces, spreads, salumi, cheese etc. along with favorites for entertaining and making the most of summer. Carefully selected partners include Fefo Studio ceramics, Leif skin and body care products, Cultiver linens, beach umbrellas from Sunday Supply, MOSCOT sunglasses and more.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
NH: This time we’re back at 341 Pantigo Road for many years to come, not just this year.
