In mid-June, the beloved Wölffer Estate Vineyard Wine Stand and Tasting Room began welcoming guests again – by reservation only.
We caught up with Vineyard co-founder Joey Wölffer about the re-opening, summer happenings, the exciting new addition to the Wölffer family, and more.
Tell us a little bit about the safety measures Wölffer Estate Vineyard has enacted upon re-opening.
JW: Wölffer Estate Vineyard and The Wine Stand have re-opened on a reservation-only basis, this way we’re able to operate safely at a limited capacity. Our team has revamped safety measures to ensure all guests and employees abide by the CDC and DOH requirements. Employees have all participated in a staff training session to understand mandated safety standards. All guests and staff are required to wear a mask or have their face covered while on-premise, aside from when guests are seated at their tables. Wölffer employees will accompany any guest moving about any of our locations to ensure that a safe 6-foot social distance is adhered to. Updating daily task logs for cleaning and sanitizing protocol have also been put in place.
Our drive-thrus are still operating and fully stocked for those who want to swing by in their cars for a convenient purchase transaction. We are thankful to be reopened and once again welcome guests to visit and enjoy their experience safely.

What virtual and in-person events does Wölffer have planned for the summer?
JW: We are still offering private virtual tasting events where groups are able to choose from two tasting options for a fun virtual experience with one of our winemaking experts.
This summer will mark the launch of a special new Wölffer addition. What inspired the new Wölffer offering?
JW: June 25th marked the launch of Wölffer No.139 Dry Rosé Cider LoRo. During this time we felt it was important to produce something that inspires people to push outside the comfort zone and do something that makes them feel “high of life” – with lower alcohol and lower calorie we want everyone to get out there try something new! This playful drink is light, refreshing, and effortlessly balanced between fruit and acidity, perfect for the upcoming summer months!
The Wine Stand visitors will be able to peruse the Beach Shack. What can shoppers expect?
JW: The location is meant to be for easy shopping beach necessities, coverups, summer dresses, beach bags, and beach jewelry. It is also an extension of what we carry in my Sag Harbor store. Wölffer Girls, a ready to wear tie-dye collection which includes hoodies, t-shirts, and baby onesies are also available. A portion of sales from the collection benefit the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center, a place near and dear to me.
The Wölffer Estate Vineyard Tasting Room is located at 139 Sagg Road in Sagaponack and the Wine Stand is located at 3312 Montauk Highway in Sagaponack. For more information, visit www.wolffer.com.
