One of my favorite things to do on a breezy summer day is attend goat yoga at Corwith’s Farmstand. All you need is your own yoga mat, an old towel and a craving for movement. Through the 60-minute breathing centered flow, you’ll be greeted by the farm’s tribe of kids, (a baby goat is referred to as a kid, funnily enough). The farm’s goats are incredibly friendly and interactive, oftentimes climbing on the peaks and bluffs of your body the same way their ancestors scaled mountainous landscapes. Goats are naturally inquisitive and loving, making them perfect for therapy or companion pets, and a great inclusion to your weekend yoga routine.
Planting roots in Southampton in the 1660’s, The Corwith family has been serving the east end of Long Island’s communities in various ways for generations. In the early 1900’s James Hervey Corwith purchased 25-acres of land on Head of Pond Road in Watermill, and parcels of that land are still being used by the Corwith Family to this day. Fast forward to today, Ryan Corwith, great great grandson of James Hervey Corwith, has taken over the self-serve farmstand on Head of Pond Road, expanding it to offer summer camps, fall activities and delicious produce.
If you find yourself looking for the perfect outdoor activity, stop over to Corwith’s Farmstand and try out the east end of Long Island’s only spot for goat yoga!
