Despite the weather-shortened fair, The Hamptons Fine Art Fair proudly made history this year with an extraordinary showcase of artistic brilliance. If the rain kept you away last Sunday, you could still view/shop on the HFAF website here.
The year’s fair was the most extensive selection of fine art ever assembled in the Hamptons, boasting over 800 artists from various corners of the globe. The record-breaking fair hosted an impressive 140 exhibitors, representing 14 countries, who gathered in Southampton to present their finest art offerings to the discerning Hamptons community.
The support for fine art in the Hamptons has already impressed event organizer Rick Friedman, who said, “The Hamptons Fine Art Fair is a testament to the power of art to unite and inspire. We are deeply grateful for the enthusiasm and encouragement received from our wonderful community. Let us continue to celebrate the splendor of art and creativity together. Your continued support has been instrumental in making Hamptons Fine Art Fair a thriving platform for art collectors, artists, and galleries. Your patronage and appreciation for the arts help foster creativity and ensure the vibrancy of the art community.”
Weathering the Storm
As with any grand event, unforeseen challenges can arise; this year’s fair was no exception. On Sunday, July 16, the region experienced an unprecedented torrential downpour, causing roadways and the fairgrounds to flood, posing safety concerns for all involved. As a result, the fair had to close early at 3 pm.
I was among those who could not attend the event; the sudden storm created a fast-moving river along Route 39. I was worried about the Vendors, hoping that they would be okay. Luckily, the event was closed without any damage to the art. Still, the disappointment is real for buyers who waited until Sunday to finalize their sale.
Unfortunately, the abrupt closure impacted potential art transactions that typically occur during the fair’s final hours. Many galleries eagerly anticipated guests’ return visits on Sunday, but the sudden storm prevented such opportunities.
Exploring & Supporting Beyond the Fair
In light of these unforeseen circumstances, The Hamptons Fine Art Fair is extending a heartfelt invitation to all art enthusiasts to revisit their exhibitor page on the Hamptons Fine Art Fair website. The page showcases several prominent images and contact information from each gallery, allowing you to explore the captivating artworks that piqued your interest during the fair.
The organizers understand that you may have focused on a particular piece you intended to acquire but couldn’t during the fair. Fret not! There’s still time to make those desired acquisitions from the myriad of unique treasures displayed worldwide. Simply reach out to the gallery directly to pursue your artistic aspirations.
