Hamptons Jazz Fest, produced by The Jam Sessions, Inc., brings world-class musicians in the fields of jazz, Latin, and world music to the east end of Long Island. Concerts are held in iconic venues in summer, and they also stage a Winter Season, which begins this year on December 16th and runs through May 13, 2023.
Hamptons.com recently spoke with Claes Brondal, Executive Director of Jazz Fest and The Jam Session, Inc.; the organization presents performances by world-class musicians in the fields of Jazz, Latin and World music during the summer at various venues. In 2021 they began Hamptons Jazz Fest, when live music was again possible post-covid.
They have also created a winter jazz series that runs from December to May, taking place at the Parrish Art Museum and the Southampton Cultural Center. Four weeks after the winter series ends they go into the 10-week summer concerts which run from July through August and half of September. Claes serves at producer and emcee but also plays (he’s a well-known jazz drummer in these parts).
The Board of Directors includes well-connected and talented people in the field, including Joel Chriss, who has been booking jazz artists for 40 years. Jam Sessions keeps ticket prices affordable, Claes explains, “to fill a void out here for this kind of music that may not be accessible for all ages and income levels.”
