While the weather may still be chilly in the Hamptons, the fashion world is thinking about warmer times with Resort Wear and Spring fashion. WGSN’s forecast analyst Maren Hartman gave Hamptons.com a sneak peak into what to wear when the weather gets warmer.
Many Popular Trends Get An Update:
Printed Pants: If you loved the printed pants trend you are in luck. Printed pants will be massive for resort and spring in various shapes and silhouettes whether it be a high waisted trouser, a cropped pant, a culotte, a longer length short or a shorter length pant you have many options. For an update on the look choose a pant with a placed prints as opposed to an all over print.
Classics Get An Update: High waisted 70’s inspired trousers are in again. For dresses look for fit and flair with a feminine feel. Two looks which are in for resort and spring are the shirt dress and a crisp white men’s shirt but update the look through a print or pattern.

Woven Tops: The boxy shell woven top was huge for fall and holiday runways. They will stay popular so to update the look try woven tops with contrast plackets and collars.
Lace: Lace is still in but it is no longer just about dresses which are an easy go to. Maren thinks people should to have fun with the idea of separates, choose a lace top or bottom. For a delicate dose of lace try the Alexa Sandal from Tory Burch ($295, 47 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, 631-907-9150, www.toryburch.com).
Colors Resorts Moving Into Spring:
Softened Neons: The neon trend which has been huge will continue through resort and into spring but with a softened update. Look for washed out neons like acidy greens and lighter yellows. The J.Crew ($188, 14 Main Street, East Hampton, 631-324-5034 or 84 Montauk Highway, Southampton, 631-287-2869 www.jcrew.com) Collection Cashmere Long-sleeve Tee in neon kiwi is a perfect transition piece from winter to spring.
Bold Colors And Stripes: Bright bold orange/red and aqua blue will be two big colors seen in resort wear and spring fashion. Yellow will also be massive and for resort you can never go wrong with the classic look of white and black. The Tibi Variegated Stripe Pleated Dress ($385, www.tibi.com) combines the classic black and white look with stripes. The Maria envelope clutch from Rebecca Minkoff ($795, www.rebeccaminkoff.com) combines teal and red, two bright and hot colors for resort and spring.
Neutrals: The neutrals on the runways were almost like makeup pallet with warm casted neutrals and pretty taupes and creams. Chloe’s (www.chloe.com) Spring 2013 collection featured a boudoir pink along with other soft colors like warm khaki tan.
Cobalt Blue: The beautiful blue which has ruled the runways will still be huge for resort and spring. If you are looking to try the trend The Chelsea Flower Wrap Halter, available at Intermix ($188, www.intermixonline.com), is a great option, you can wear it with a variety of colors and with pants or a skirt.
Thanks to Maren you know what to wear for the upcoming season, now all you have to do is wait for warmer weather in the Hamptons.
