The Academy of American Poets hosted an evening honoring the role of contemporary poetry in American culture at Lincoln Center in New York City. The twelfth annual Poetry & the Creative Mind included special readings from National Student Poet Michaela Coplen, Rosie Perez, Billy Crudup, Parker Posey, Tina Fey, Esperanza Spalding, Sebastian Junger, Patrick Stewart, Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep, Juliana Margulies, Carrie Mae Weems, and Drew Nieporent, with master of ceremonies Chip Kidd.
