“It’s the old Superica in Sag Harbor, but is it any good?”
“I heard that it’s a lot more expensive.”
“I heard that it’s too fancy.”
Oh how they could not be more WRONG!
I’m going to set the record straight right now on K Pasa, it is a $#$#-ing great restaurant. I just left from lunch there and not only was I impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant and the quality of the food, but I was also in love with the vibe and the fair pricing. If you haven’t been there because you are upset Superica has been replaced, you’re making a BIG mistake.
First off, when you walk in, the vibe is completely chill. It is not over the top fancy, it’s not uncomfortable if you’re in jeans and a t-shirt, it’s a completely relaxed atmosphere. Yes, everything has been updated and renovated, but that’s a GOOD THING. You have new and fun light fixtures throughout the restaurant and mezcal tequila bottles are scattered everywhere for decoration. And then of course you have the gorgeous view through the windows of the water. Also, and I haven’t seen this anywhere, you have plastic dividers at tables in the restaurant which as a guy who gets a little anxious every time he walks into a restaurant these days, I was happy to see.
Okay, now let’s address the menu. There is one word you need to know. TACOS! The menu revolves around them and you can get one for $5 or $6 if it’s a seafood item. Our waitress recommended that we each have three per person so we ordered a bunch as well as some chips and guacamole as an appetizer, which was $12. It doesn’t get any more reasonable than that. Out came our food and it was so fresh. The chips were just made, the guacamole zingy and generously sized, and the tacos remarkably delicious. The tacos come out on very small corn tortillas, but they are loaded up so they are deceptively small looking. Generous portions of steak, fish, chicken, shrimp, and pork were all piled on each different taco and we ate our meal with delight. I was immediately feeling charged up and over the course of the meal and we all were very satisfied. “We should add this to our list of lunch spots!!! I’m so happy we came here!”
I don’t want to sound overly enthusiastic about this gem of a restaurant, but they did not miss, and you should not miss out on it. It’s a great little spot to go for any time of day as they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it should be in your rotation of places to eat.
You can check out the full menu at 1-800-taco.com (yes that really is their website). I hope you enjoy it as I did.
