There are places you visit… and then there are places that become part of your story. For me, that place has always been Montauk.

I grew up spending long days at the beach, feet buried in warm sand, cooling off under the waves, losing track of time in the best possible way. Summer wasn’t planned; it just happened naturally. The ocean set the pace, and every day felt a little freer than the last.

Maybe it’s oceanfront dining at Gurney’s or Duryea’s, sunset cocktails at The Montauket, or a night that somehow stretches late at Mavericks Montauk. Other evenings call for relaxed, family-style dinners at Harvest on Fort Pond, where conversation lingers long after the plates are cleared.

Sometimes the best moments are the simplest ones, margaritas and tacos at El Taco Ole, top-notch sushi from Seaside Sushi, or ice cream at John’s Drive-In. If the night still feels young, a little friendly competition at Puff & Putt Mini Golf always seems to end with laughs and a rematch promise.

You come for the beaches, the boating, the fishing, the sunsets that stop you mid-sentence. But you stay for something harder to explain, the way Montauk makes life feel lighter.
