Warby Parker is heading to the Hamptons this summer. The eyewear brand will launch its first East Hampton outpost, Warby Parker Beach Reads, on Saturday, June 29.
“East Hampton is a really special place for so many New Yorkers,” Neil Blumenthal, Warby Parker co-founder and co-CEO, shared. “We’re incredibly excited to open our doors to such a wonderful community and, at the same time, support a place that means a lot to us: East Hampton Library.”
Warby Parker Beach Reads will feature the brand’s full selection of optical and sunwear – including Escapists, a new collection of sunglasses that feature polished metal detailing, and a special selection of finds exclusively offered at the Hamptons shop.
Since sunnies and a riveting book tend to go hand in hand during the summer, Warby Parker Beach Reads will also double as a full-service lending book library, brimming with hundreds of beloved titles, ranging from binge-worthy classics to juicy memoirs. To borrow a book, all you have to do is find one that piques your interest, bring it back when you’re done, and leave a one-word review before you put it back – each book will feature an old-school library card where you can leave your insight. The East Hampton store will also feature custom buttons.
The store’s beachy feel is complimented with a pop of color provided by New York-based illustrator Gwendal Le Bec, who created a series of custom pieces.
While food and drink are a big no-no at traditional libraries, Warby Parker Beach Reads will actually have an honor bar featuring ice cream sandwiches, with custom Warby Blue sprinkles, from Sag Harbor-based Joe & Liza’s, and ice cream sales will support the East Hampton Library.
“We wanted to create a space that was unlike any other Warby Parker store, so we combined the two things we love doing out east—reading books by the beach and eating lots of ice cream sandwiches,” Blumenthal added.
Additionally, Warby Parker Beach Reads will boast a selection of Warby Parker glasses for kids, available in two sizes: Jr. (ages 8 and up) and Jr. Jr. (kiddos 4-7), as well as Virtual Try-On, an app that helps you find the perfect frames.
Warby Parker Beach Reads will be open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Warby Parker Beach Reads is located at 50 Newton Lane in East Hampton. For more information, visit www.warbyparker.com.
