You may think it’s too early to start perusing for holiday gifts, but realistically, the season of giving can easily sneak up on you. Nothing is worse than being among the panicked last minute shoppers, so get a head start on this year’s seasonal shopping during Shop ’til You Drop.
Taking place at Parrish Memorial Hall on the Grounds of Southampton Hospital, Shop ’til You Drop is part of the Give Where You Live Campaign, which promotes local charities and encourages the community to support them. The event will serve as a benefit for Lucia’s Angels and The Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Southampton Hospital.
“I’ve been on the board of the Coalition for Women’s Cancer and have seen the work they do to help women on the East End,” explained Vicki Durand of East Hampton, who is coordinating the event. “I’m also a breast cancer survivor and worked very hard for local charities.”
On Saturday, November 12th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can browse through items from over 15 East End vendors, from both the South Fork and North Fork, who will present unique jewelry, soy candles, artisan skincare, handmade jams, handmade knits, handcrafted soaps and candles, baked goods, beach crafts and much more.
Popular local candle company Hamptons Handpoured is among vendors. “I’m so happy to be a part of this event again this year that supports a cause led by a group of women who get the community involved,” shared Hamptons Handpoured owner Brittany Torres. “Vicki has a knack of organizing this warm and inviting shopping boutique.”
When establishing Shop ’til You Drop, which debuted last year, Durand wanted to create an event that brought together the community. “As a local artisan myself, I wanted to use a craft show venue as a fundraiser,” she explained. “Every vendor is so excited to participate, and knows that they will be contributing to women’s cancer organizations here on the East End. We’re very thankful that they want to participate in this.”
Don’t be surprised if this event turns out to be your one-stop holiday shopping experience. “You can check everyone off your list for the holidays while shopping handmade and local,” said Torres. “It’s a great way to spend a fall Saturday in Southampton.”
