INTERVIEW: Stoney Clover Lane Co-Founder And Co-Creative Director Kendall Glazer On The Limited-Edition Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty Collection

Stoney Clover Lane — a travel accessory line designed to spark self-expression — launched a limited-edition Hello Kitty collection during COVID-19, with the goal of inspiring joy and positivity.

The Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty collection incorporates both brands’ mutual love of adventure with Stoney Clover Lane’s vibrant colors and Hello Kitty’s iconic bow. The 33-piece collection features three exclusive prints — Hello Kitty bow print, Hello Kitty heart print and Hello Kitty’s adventure print — and a signature Hello Kitty face style on classic Stoney Clover Lane styles. Stoney Clover Lane, which was founded by sisters Kendall and Libby Glazer, offers travel products such as mini, small and large pouches, a flat pouch, mini and classic duffels, mini and classic backpacks, and over 35 new patches for optimal customization. Every product created by Stoney Clover Lane was designed to have multiple purposes, whether it’s adventure, back to school or organization.

I spoke with Kendall Glazer, Co-Founder and Co-Creative Director of Stoney Clover Lane, about the inspiration and creation of the Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty collection.

What inspired the Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty collection?

KG: This collection is inspired entirely by Hello Kitty herself! For as long as I can remember, we have been obsessed with the brand. Our entire lives we’ve visited stores in various cities, collected puffy stickers and school supplies, and even visited Puroland in Japan. This opportunity to collaborate with them is a dream come true, and is truly inspired by the joy and adventure that Hello Kitty inspires.

How long will the Hello Kitty collection be available for?

KG: This is a limited-edition collection so once it sells out, it’s gone for good!

What’s the most popular Hello Kitty collection item of the 33 pieces so far?

KG: People have been loving the new Hello Kitty destination patches and customizing everything with them!

How was this new collection created to be representative of both the Stoney Clover Lane brand and the Hello Kitty brand?

KG: As longtime fans of Hello Kitty, it was incredibly exciting to translate her iconic image to our most popular product styles with adventure in mind. We created three signature prints as well as a Hello Kitty face print so there’s something for everyone whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist. I think we really captured Hello Kitty with a Stoney Clover twist!

What is your favorite aspect of Stoney Clover Lane collaborating with Hello Kitty?

KG: Seeing it all come to life! From the initial conversations with Sanrio, to designing the patterns, to sampling, to seeing the product come to life in our stores, every step of the way was a dream for us.
