Akris is celebrating Memorial Day weekend by hosting a special visit from Hometown Flower Co., whose flower truck, Baby Blue, will be parked outside of the Southampton store on Sunday, May 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Those that make a purchase at the luxury women’s boutique will receive a Hometown Flower Co. “Flowers in a Bag.” The stunning arrangements boast an array of seasonal flowers grown by Long Island farmers. “Flowers in a Bag” will also be available for purchase.
“After a crazy year, we are so excited to be partnering with Akris to kick off our return to the road for the 2021 flower truck season,” Jaclyn Rutigliano, Hometown Flower Co. Co-Founder, noted. “Starting Memorial Day weekend, you can spot Baby Blue (#spotbabyblue) all over Long Island showcasing locally-grown flowers from our Long Island farmers. All season long, we’ll announce our pop-up and workshop locations on Instagram so be sure to follow along as you never know where we’ll be popping up next!”
Hometown Flower Co.’s “Flowers in a Bag,” which are available as a one-time delivery or season-long subscription, are safely secured in brown paper bag packaging that creatively conceals a clear or amber colored jar-like vase and vase box to ensure a mess free transport. The blooms are offered in five sizes: The Mini, The Small, The Midi, The Kitchen Sink, and a statement centerpiece size dubbed The Tablescape.
In addition to brightening customers’ day with a beautiful floral bouquet, a portion of sales from Sunday, May 30 will be donated to The Retreat – the East End’s sole domestic violence agency, in partnership with Hamptons United.
“The Retreat is thrilled to be the recipient of this event. Retreat services are free for all individuals impacted by abuse and violence but it cost money to run these life-changing services,” Loretta Davis, The Retreat Executive Director, noted. “By supporting The Retreat, this event is helping to change and save lives. We are moved by the community spirit of the event which will help survivors and thereby improve the quality of life of our community.”
“Hamptons United is thrilled to partner with a global brand such as Akris, and a unique Long Island flower company, such as Hometown Flower Co. Their local presences, combined with Akris’ focus on female empowerment is directly in-line with our own mission,” Stacey Kotler, Hamptons United Co-Founder, added. “We are dedicated to educate the community to ‘give where you live’ and to highlight women’s issues through several of our member charities, including The Retreat, which provides safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse.”
She continued, “When Akris and Hometown Flower Co mutually agreed to give a percentage of the proceeds to benefit The Retreat, it all came together. Hamptons United is excited and proud to be a part of this opening summer event in Southampton.”
