Last week editors and style bloggers gathered for the unveiling of the new Missoni Home store on Jobs Lane in Southampton, and quite the fete it was indeed.
Missoni Home is the home furnishing and accent division of the iconic Milan fashion house of Missoni, started by the late Ottavio Missoni and his wife Rosita in 1953. Known for its striking knitwear designs of colorful and geometric prints and embroidered patterns, the Missoni Home line reflects the Missoni design and color palette seamlessly.

A stark contrast from the traditional blue & cream that has been the stall worth of Hamptons interior design for decades, Missoni Home store in Southampton literally explodes with color in their pillows and throws, lampshades and candles, furniture and fabrics, and the Missoni Home line of patio furniture displayed in the expansive courtyard behind the store. It is undeniable that Missoni Home has its finger on the pulse of the new generation of Hamptonians that are looking for color and contrast in their vacation home décor.
Hamptons’ media were joined by NYC colleagues who were charter bused out from Manhattan for a fabulous afternoon luncheon and meet and greet with Missoni Home executives, designers and the company’s retail partners in the Hamptons, Roxane Mosleh and Bobby Ginsberg. Mosleh first encountered Missoni Home at the 2010 Milan Furniture Fair and was left breathless by the line. Connecting with Missoni Home VP of Sales in the Americas Christopher Philips at the fair, Mosleh was convinced she needed to do something with Missoni. Sharing her enthusiasm with long-time partner and Hampton Classic equestrian Ginsberg, it was he who upon seeing the line stated, “Missoni Home needs to be in Southampton!” and hence, the wheels were set in motion.
Yes, Missoni Home has come to Southampton and the store is a must stop-in for home owners and designers alike. Waspy blue & cream will probably hold their ground, but they will undoubtedly be sharing the beach house with some colorful and stunning Italians this summer.
