Looking for your next summer beach read? We’ve got you covered with what critics are calling, “deliciously twisted” and an “of-the-moment domestic thriller”. Does this sound like your type of read? If so, you can’t miss Swan Huntley’s newest novel, I Want You More, which will be on sale starting May 21, 2024.
I Want You More takes place on an East Hampton estate where Zara, the book’s co-protagonist, is invited to live upon accepting a ghostwriting position for a celebrity chef. We spoke with Huntley to learn more about how the Hamptons as a setting will work into the novel’s juicy plotline.
Q: So, why East Hampton and the Hamptons in general?
A friend of mine has a place in East Hampton. I spent a few weeks there and thought this would be a great setting for a book.
Q: Do you visit the Hamptons often? If so, do you have any favorite spots that we can expect to make cameos in I Want You More?
Jane Bailey, the main character, lives at the end of Cottage Ave. I spent a lot of time looking at this area of East Hampton on a map so I could get the details right. Like, how long would it take them to walk to the beach? How busy would that stretch of Georgica be? How secluded would the property be? (That’s important when writing a domestic thriller. You need a secluded property.)
Q: Similarly, are there any easter eggs, so to speak, that Hamptons locals can expect to search for in the story?
A few places that make cameos are Clam Bar in Napeague, The Maidstone, and Citarella.
Swan Huntley will be at a few Hamptons locations to promote I Want You More this summer. More information on where and when you can attend these events are as follows,
- Noon on August 8th at the Bridgehampton location of Barnes & Noble;
- 6pm on August 9th at the Southampton Arts Center for an author panel with writer and podcast host, Zibby Owens.
Swan Huntley is the author of previously published novels Getting Clean With Stevie Freent, The Goddesses, and We Could Be Beautiful. She earned an MFA from Columbia University and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
