You may have noticed the wonderful new hardware store right off of N. Sea Rd., aptly named North Sea Hardware in Southampton. The store is hard to miss. It’s a beautiful red building with many hardware displays out front on the lawn as well as a large parking lot. The new owner of the hardware store is Steve D’Angelo, who has a true passion for hardware stores as funny as that sounds. His motto for North Sea Hardware is “cutting edge products and old fashioned service.”
The store is open seven days a week to meet the needs of all homeowners that live in the area. When you get to the store you can tell pretty much immediately that is a very smart and well run operation. There are pallets of goods that are stacked neatly in containers outside of the parking lot and an array of grills are for sale before you walk into the door. When you walk inside you are immediately greeted with a smile by one of the salespeople at the hardware store who are extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of a homeowners’ concerns.
Steve explains, “We try to set ourselves apart from others by offering items and services that are typically not found in most hardware stores. Most of our staff has a background in the building supply industry. Builders and homeowners alike will find what they need and be able to explain their projects to us. We specifically have a knowledge base that can help both builders and homeowners.”
And that knowledge really separates Steve’s hardware store apart – aside from its local charm, everybody who works in the hardware store knows everything about what is necessary to take care of a home and also what is necessary to have a great time at the beach! There is a fishing section of the hardware store which put a smile on this writer’s face, as well as an array of Orca products that are fantastic for the beach and for fishing adventures. But the real appeal of the hardware store is its deep local roots, giving it a feel of home but also providing you with first rate service that you would expect from any world class store.
Steve has experienced a tremendous amount of positive support and appreciation for his hardware store, having garnered over 50 reviews on Google that are all five star in a very short period of time. “By far the most fulfilling aspect of opening the store is the constant support we get from our customers/ community. There is not a day that goes by where new customers don’t walk in and repeat customers tell us how much they appreciate us opening and being here. It’s motivation to get up every day because of those comments.”
The motivation for starting the store came purely from a desire to fulfill a common sense need in a first class way. Steve tells me that, “Our store has over 30 parking spots and is located between Sag Harbor and Southampton Village. We started the store because we feel there is a need for a place people can come and find a parking spot easily to get everyday products and excellent customer service.”
If you’re in the need for pretty much anything in North Sea, this hardware store should certainly be at the top of your list.
