Great news! On Saturday, January 28th between 6PM and 11PM The Clubhouse will be hosting an “Open Mic Night and Silent Disco Dance Party.”
This event, hosted by the Guild Hall Teens Arts Council, is “Calling all musicians, comedians, storytellers, and dancers alike of ages,” to come and reserve a time slot to show their stuff. The open Mic portion of this event will be from 6PM to 7:30PM, with 5 to 7 minute slots. Collectives and bands will receive a time slot of 10 to 12 minutes. An adult must accompany all folks under 21 after 9:30 pm. The program is open to Adults and High School Aged Teenagers.
Performers can sign up as individuals or a band/ensemble by emailing Anthony Madonna at [email protected]. Please include a description of your act/band and all technical needs in your email. Guild Hall will provide up to 8 wireless microphones; 2 microphones for acoustic instruments; 5 Passive DI Boxes; 5 Active DI Boxes; 1 1/8” cable with input to PA for playback from iPhone & MacBook; 5 on-stage monitors; Mic Stands; Guitar Stands; XLR Cables.
Artists are expected to bring all instruments (including keyboard & drum kit); ¼” cables for instruments; instrument amplifiers; pedal boards, modulators, and other gear.
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your talent, whether it be singing, joke-telling stand-up, or a small comedy skit. Perhaps read an original poem or recite a classic. Whatever you choose, this night is an excellent opportunity to strut your stuff in front of a live audience in a prime venue. While you are waiting to perform or viewing this extravaganza, the Clubhouse bar and kitchen will be available to sample their beverages and wonderful menus of tasty affordable treats.
Artists participating in the Open Mic Night do not need to pay the admission fee to attend the evening. If registering to perform, we ask that you share the event with others who may attend and pay the $15.00 admission fee ($10 for Members).
Then when the open mic activities wind down, there is more! There will be a Silent Disco Dance Party. What is a Silent Disco Dance Party? It is something unique, personal yet group-oriented. Using a number of playlists selected by the Guild Hall Teens Arts Council folks, you get to party, dance, hang out. You can select a playlist and listen via wireless headphones that are provided.
Additional open mic/silent dance party nights are scheduled for March 25th and May 20th.
This event will be a unique way to experience community spirit along with an opportunity to support friends, siblings, and neighbors. Over the years Guild Hall has always been the pillar for holding up the high standards of east end cultural events. Founded in 1931, Guild Hall has a long and successful history of “promoting the endless possibilities of the arts: to open minds to what art can be; inspire creativity and conversation; and to have fun.”
Undoubtedly, fun, laughter, amazement and pure joy will all be the ingredients as the locals show off their talents. The “Open Mic Night and Silent Disco Dance Party” will showcase how the Guild Hall Teens Arts Council, along with the leadership at Guild Hall, helps promote a healthy cultural heartbeat to the community.
