Our Fabulous Variety Show (OFVS) is excited to announce the next performance in their new theatre opportunity – The Staged Series – a creative venture that provides adult actors opportunities to pitch and participate in shows for readings. The Staged Series will kick off 2023 with a staged reading of Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling. The reading will be at LTV Studios in Wainscott on Saturday, January 28th at 6pm. Attendance is a free will donation, suggested donation of $20 but all are welcome and greatly appreciated.
This full-length play, based on the playwright’s own life experiences, is a comedy-drama set in a beauty salon in Louisiana in the early 1980s and features an all-female cast. The women spend their time in the beauty salon gossiping, joking, and comforting each other through life’s hurdles. The cast includes Anita Boyer, Kasia Klimiuk, Krissy Feleppa, Ellora DeCarlo, Rachel Feldman and Nicky Seitz, under the direction of Joe Pallister. The Staged Series is open to all adult actors in the community and will continue throughout the winter season.
“We are very excited for our second staged reading in our Staged Series! We kicked it off with “Zoo Story” in December with actors Joe Pallister and Edward Kassar, with direction by Anita Boyer. Now Joe takes the helm as director of “Steel Magnolias” starring six talented women: Anita Boyer, Ellora DeCarlo, Rachel Feldman, Krissy Feleppa, Kasia Klimiuk and Nicole Seitz. It’s important for our theater company to provide creative opportunities for not only our students ages 5-18 but for professional artists and actors in the community. The story is a poignant one and about the relationships of these six southern women. We’ve had a lot of fun at rehearsals and are excited to take the stage. We also have our Vaudeville Diva Cabaret at 8pm afterwards starring drag queen trio, The Siren Sisters, which includes RaffaShow, Rusty Nails and Miss Nina!” said Kasia Klimiuk of OFVS.
