We have all watched with horror the devastation that has been leveled upon the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. Working with the East End Cares organization and their volunteers and in conjunction with Paddlers for Humanity (a 501-C3 non-profit), Gurney’s Inn, Resort & Spa is holding a Hamptons fundraiser to help some of the smaller areas of Leyte province. East Hampton resident and East End Cares volunteer Brian Lydon is on the ground in Hindang, Leyte working with a wonderful group of Filipino volunteers who are from the ancestral village of East End resident Venus Yunker. Lydon is reporting back on their work to help organize the relief efforts there.
The fundraiser will take place at Gurney’s on Friday, December 13th from 7-11pm. It will be an evening of local entertainment (with the possibility of a surprise celebrity performance), local and ethnic food prepared by some of the area’s best chefs, local beer and wine, great raffles, lots of dancing and great fun in support of a great cause.
Admission to the event is $25, but give as much as you can, and sponsorship opportunities are available at the following levels: Title Sponsor $5,000, Platinum Sponsor $2,500, Gold Sponsor $1,000 and Silver Sponsor $ 500. Raffle prizes are also needed. 100% of donations and ticket sales will go directly to providing critical necessities for survival – food, water, medicine, shelter. If you can help in any way please contact Gurney’s General Manager and CEO Paul Monte at [email protected].
