Sole East Resort Hosting An Evening Of Live Music, BBQ, And A Surf Short To Benefit Surfers Healing

On Thursday, September 11, 2014, Sole East Resort in Montauk is hosting a fundraiser for Surfers Healing featuring a BBQ, live music from local musicians and screening of “Expencive Porno Movie.”

The evening will begin with a performance by the Dan Bailey Tribe from 6 to 8 p.m. A screening of “Expencive Porno Movie” (www.expencivepornomovie.com) will follow. The retro experimental surf film was shot solely on a Super 16mm and features Billy Death Scotty Stopnik, Trevor Gordon, Kyle Albers, Dane Peterson, Kassia Meador, Alex Knost, JJ Wessels, Mike DeTemple, Devon Howard, Justin Adams, and Jared Mell. The fundraiser will conclude with live music from Winston Irie and the Selective Security Band.

Surfers Healing aims to help foster the understanding and acceptance of autism. They seek to enhance the lives of kids with special needs, specifically those with autism through the transformative experience of surfing. Last year, the organization took out over 4,500 kids, and next year they plan to take out even more. Their mission is to keep their camps completely free.

Entrance to the event is free. Tickets for the BBQ are $25 per person, which includes all you can eat BBQ and a beer from Montauk Brewing Company. There will also be a raffle as well as gear from Whalebone Creative.
