Montauk Chamber’s End Of Season Gala Honoring Vincent E. “Vinnie” Grimes

The East End community is coming together to pay tribute to Vincent E. “Vinnie” Grimes during the Montauk Chamber of Commerce’s annual “End of Season Gala” at East by Northeast on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

“Vinnie has given a lifetime of service to his community which is why the Montauk Chamber selected him as Person of The Year for 2014,” said Laraine Creegan, Executive Director of the Chamber.

The lifelong resident was born and raised in the Hamptons hamlet. Vinnie and his wife raised their two sons, Keith and Jimmy Grimes, in Montauk. Throughout his lifetime, Vinnie has dedicated many hours to volunteering for local organizations like the Boy Scouts, which he joined at 11-years-old and later went on to become a Scout Leader. He is an active member of The Lions Club, and the Montauk Fire Department, and served as the Fire Commissioner in 1968.

He was one of the Founders of the Blessing of the Fleet in 1955 as well as a Co-Founder and Chairman for Life of the Montauk Horse Show, which started in 1970 and continued for 30 years. The Horse Show benefited East End causes like the Boy and Girl Scouts, The Fire Department, Youth Club, The Montauk Lighthouse, and many other groups. The philanthropist has been a part of many other Montauk organizations such as Trailblazers, The Lions Club and Lost Tribe (known as Sons and Daughters of East Hampton).

The Montauk Chamber of Commerce’s annual “End of Season Gala” begins with a one hour open bar at 6:30 p.m. Dinner and dancing follows at 7:30 p.m. and D.J. Matt Coss will provide the music for the evening.

Tickets are $80 per person.
