Surfrider Foundation (surfrider.org) and Defend H2O (defendh2o.org) are hosting the third annual Don’t Bag Our Beaches benefit at the Stephen Talkhouse on Thursday, June 11th at 7 p.m. The evening, which helps defend the beach defenders, will feature live music by Jettykoon and other special guests.
The beaches in downtown Montauk are currently facing the possibility of having a 3000′ long and 15′ high sand back wall being placed by the US Army Corps on its beautiful waterfront. The Eastern Long Island chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches, and Defend H2O, an environmental protection group, are fighting a legal battle to save these beaches that are being considered for the “renovations.” If you want to learn more about the organizations’ missions, help them in their fight, or just enjoy good live music, head on down to the Stephen Talkhouse during the annual benefit.
Tickets are $20, or $10 for students.
Stephen Talkhouse is located at 161 Main Street in Amagansett. For more information, visit stephentalkhouse.com.
