Women Helping Women is a Voss Foundation campaign that has raised nearly $650,000 in Europe and the United States to build 21 clean water access points and 291 sanitation facilities across Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, and Swaziland, as of February 2015.
Water is disproportionately a women’s burden in Africa. Rural women and girls are responsible for their families’ daily water needs, and often are forced to sacrifice their own health, education and futures in order to provide. Offering women facilitated access to clean water is an important part of the Voss Foundation’s Ripple Effect, creating an engine for growth that spurs changing in a family, community, region and country.
On Monday, August 1st, the Voss Foundation will host its second annual Women Helping Women Hamptons Luncheon at Tutto il Giorno in Southampton. Model and activist, Georgie Badiel will be honored at the luncheon for her efforts in West Africa. Badiel runs a namesake non-profit foundation centered on providing sustainable solutions to the water pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa.

Other notable attendees will include Gabby Karan DeFelice, daughter of Donna Karan and owner of Tutto il Giorno, Magatte Wade, Liliana Cavendish, Kelly Bensimon, Katherine Kung, and more.
The event will also feature Voss Foundation’s celebrated African Bazaar: a collection of jewelry, accessories, toys and home items from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Liberia, Swaziland, and Uganda.
The Voss Foundation wants to spread and celebrate global female empowerment, and this event allows them to do so while helping the Foundation continue to improve the lives of African women and their communities by providing access to clean water, sanitation and proper hygienic materials.
The Women Helping Women Hamptons Luncheon will kick-off with the opportunity to shop the African Bazaar at 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $225.
Tutto il Giorno is located at 56 Nugent Street in Southampton. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.vossfoundation.org
