It’s Time To Get Cozy In Your Ugly Christmas Sweater For A Good East End Cause

The time has come to break out or go on a shopping expedition for the ugliest, gaudiest, tackiest sweater that you can find and get ready for a night out in support of an amazing local organization.

On Friday, December 9th, Maureen’s Haven will host its 2nd Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.

“The Ugly Xmas Sweater Party is THE Holiday event on the North Fork,” noted Maryann Gensler of Maureen’s Haven. “It’s great fun for a great cause.”

If the chance to leave with the title of ugliest sweater and winning awesome prizes isn’t enough, the evening will include a 4-beer tasting flight, food, and an ice cream bar – because why not? A DJ from East End Entertainment will provide the tunes and Maureen’s Haven will also raise funds via a 50/50 raffle and raffle baskets.

“We are a month into our emergency shelter program, and although the weather has been somewhat mild, we are already at full capacity,” explained Gensler. “The Maureen’s Haven 2nd Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater is our only winter fundraiser.”

Maureen’s Haven’s mission is to protect the East End’s homeless population by providing shelter, support services and compassionate care for individuals in need. Every November 1st through April 1st, Maureen’s Haven screens and transports the homeless from the North and South Forks of Long Island to one of the host Houses of Worship between Greenport and East Hampton, where they are provided nightly refuge.

“Please come and bring your friends to help us raise critical funds and have a great time doing it,” she said. “The event will take place at a beautiful venue, with the best beer on the North Fork, a DJ by East End Entertainment, great food, dancing, an Ugly Sweater Contest with prizes, raffle baskets and a 50/50.”

Over the past decade, the homeless outreach program has provided shelter and services to over 3,500 homeless men and women.

“We hope to see you there,” she added.

The 2nd Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, December 9th. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
