Kent Animal Shelter is presenting its annual An Evening of Comedy fundraiser on Friday, May 12 at Hotel Indigo in Riverhead. From 7 to 10 p.m., headliners Joe DeVito and Tommy Gooch of Omnipop Talent Group will make attendees crack up joke after joke. Along with the comedian’s hysterical performances, there will be hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, Chinese auction, a raffle, and more!

“We’ve held An Evening of Comedy around Mother’s Day for a number of years now, and it’s a fundraiser that sells out every year and it’s always such fun,” noted Pamela Green, Executive Director of the Kent Animal Shelter. “We’re looking forward to new performances by a couple of pros.”
DeVito has performed in some of the top clubs of New York City and across the USA. He’s known for his unexpected twists and sheer flights of lunacy. DeVito’s performance at the Just for Laughs Festival was rated 9.5 out of 10 by The Montreal Gazette. He has had more than 100 TV appearances including The Late Late Show, Comedy Central, AXStv’s Gotham Comedy Live, Comics Unleashed, and the semi-finals of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He serves as a regular panelist on FOX News Channel’s Red Eye and FOX Business Network’s Kennedy Show. The comedian’s first CD, First Date with Joe Devito, was released January 13, 2015.
Gooch was born in Brooklyn and currently resides in Staten Island, New York. He is known for ranting and a self-deprecating, family-oriented style. Gooch has performed on all of the major stages in New York City and is a regular at the world famous Broadway Comedy Club in New York City. He also performs at the Borgata Comedy Club at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as well as the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. Gooch has been a guest on the Staten Island Comedy Show on Time Warner TV & SiriusXM Satellite Radio. He has a natural, loveable, off-the-cuff comedy style that always makes him a fan favorite.
Kent Animal Shelter is a Calverton-based no-kill haven for homeless animals that provides adoption services and humane education. It was established nearly 50 years ago after a small group of humanitarians saw a great need in the community. Kent provides adoptions, spay/neutering services, veterinary services, human education and a cat retirement facility.
Tickets to An Evening of Comedy are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.
