Can’t wait to spend a summer night relaxing on the Montauk Village Green or at Gosman’s catching a sensational set during Montauk Chamber of Commerce’s concert series?
Well, before we’re treated to the Chamber of Commerce’s annual complimentary performances that features local legends like Joe Delia & Thieves, Nancy Atlas Project, and Mama Lee Rose, the Chamber is hosting its yearly Concert for the Concerts at the Montauket in Montauk on Sunday, May 6.
A trio of East End favorites – Lynn Blue Band, The Sturdy Souls and Gene Casey – is headlining this year’s benefit, which raises vital funding for the beloved summer tradition. In addition to several spectacular sets, the event will feature raffles and free raffles for kids, a cash bar and food truck. It’ll take place from 3 to 7 p.m., so guests will also be treated to one of those unforgettable Montauket sunsets as well.
“The Chamber’s ability to provide a free concert series depends on fundraising help such as this event where the bands donate performances,” explained Laraine Creegan, the Chamber’s executive director. “The Montauket lends space and we collect a little admission from a few hundred attendees.”
One of the raffle prizes that is bound to have guests lined up waiting for the opportunity to buy some chances is two tickets to see Billy Joel in concert at Madison Square Garden on October 27. The sweet prize also includes two round trip Hampton Jitney tickets. Raffles are a steal at one for $10 and three for $25. As the winner won’t be selected until later in the year, tickets will be available at the Chamber, over the phone and at all the Chamber’s events, including the Farmers Market that starts on Thursday, June 7.
“The concert series is a win/win for our guests and the community, they show Montauk is hospitable to visitors so that they will return and help our tourism businesses thrive,” Creegan added.
For those unable to make the Concert for the Concerts but want to support the series, the Chamber is currently securing businesses to sponsor each individual concert.
Admission to Concert for the Concerts is free for children and $10 for adults.
The Monday night Concerts on the Green series will launch in June, while the Sunday evening Gosman’s Dockside Stage on the Harbor shows begin in July.
