Wölffer Estate Vineyard is commemorating the holiday season by hosting its beloved annual Lighting of the Vines on Saturday, December 1.
Taking place from 6 to 8 p.m., the joyous gathering will include merry holiday jazz, delicious hors d’oeuvres, wine, mulled wine, the breathtaking lighting of the vines, when 15,000 gleaming LED lights brighten the Vineyard’s rows for the first time this season, and a charity wreath auction, which supports Fighting Chance, a Sag Harbor-based non-profit that provides free cancer counseling across the East End of Long Island.

“We are excited to host Lighting of the Vines again this year to gather the community and support Fighting Chance,” Nicolette Diodati, Wölffer Estate Vineyard Associate Marketing Manager, shared. “We have some wonderful new wreath designers who will making beautiful, festive holiday wreaths guests can bid on, and are looking forward to hosting more guests on our newly winterized terrace – now fully enclosed and heated.”
A mix of local artists, designers and business owners created the cheery decor that will be auctioned off.
“Roman Roth, the Winemaker at Wölffer, has been on the Fighting Chance Board (along with his wife, Dushy Roth) for 7 years,” Duncan Darrow, Fighting Chance Founder, explained. “Auctioning off of wreaths was their idea, as a way to contribute to our mission, and the event has grown by leaps and bounds.”

Whether you’re in the market for some new festive decor, or know someone who would appreciate the exquisite embellishments, the auction items are truly a spectacular sight. “It will feature some 20 wreaths, each created by a different East End artist, garden shop of craftsperson – really ‘one-of-a-kind,'” Darrow added. “Plus the event includes music, mulled cider and plenty of Holiday Cheer.”
Admission to Lighting of the Vines 2018: A Charity Wreath Auction and Holiday Gathering is $75 for guests 7-years-old and up, $35 for kids 1-6-years-old.
