Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA), a chapter of the United States Lifeguard Association, is celebrating the quickly approaching arrival of beach season with a summer kick-off benefit event that will look a little different than previous years. On Saturday, May 1, Harbor Bistro in East Hampton will offer a special takeout menu, with proceeds benefitting HLA.
“We are excited to be able to host our summer kick-off benefit this year, even if it won’t be the usual party,” John Ryan Jr., Hampton Lifeguard Association Co-founder, expressed.
When supporters arrive to pick up their tasty bites, there will be live music, as well as the chance to bid on auction items and enter the 50/50 raffle – socially distanced, of course.
“We will have some great auction items to peruse when you arrive to pick up some delicious takeout from Harbor Bistro,” he noted. “Enjoy live music from local musician Josh Brussels in the parking lot as you wait.” Auction items will include a wide variety of exciting prizes, like a mosaic skim board made by Marcie Honerkamp, Naturopathica massage, Hamptons Driving School classes, Philosofit personal training, Hamptons Coffee gift basket, Sagaponack Farm Distillery Bloody Mary gift box, stay at Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa, stay at The Hedges Inn, foursome at Maidstone Club, foursome at East Hampton Golf Club, Yeti cooler, Shop-Vac, Ring Video doorbell, GeekHampton Tech Support gift card, and much more.
“All proceeds will benefit our several lifeguard programs – from our littlest Nippers program introducing 6 to 8-year-olds to water safety to our junior lifeguard program and competition team, which will head to South Padre Island in Texas later this summer to represent the Hamptons,” Ryan Jr. added.
HLA’s mission is to waterproof the South Fork. The non-profit does so by promoting water safety and education through programs like the Lifeguard Training Program (45th year) and Tournament Competition, Junior Lifeguard Program (24th year) and Tournament Competition, Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad (15th year), East Hampton YMCA Hurricane Swim Club (19th year), and In-school Swim Programs.
Hampton Lifeguard Association summer kick-off benefit meals must be ordered in advance by the end of Friday, April 30 via Harbor Bistro’s website or by calling (631)324-7300.
