Did you know that there is actually a National Ugly Sweater Day? It’s Friday, December 16th – during the holidays, of course – and you have quite a few chances to show off your most repugnant find – or creation if you’re crafty.
Indian Wells Tavern (117 Main Street, Amagansett, 631-267-0400, www.indianwellstavern.com) will host their annual Ugly Sweater Party on Friday, December 16th from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Along with music from a DJ and drink and shot specials, the festivity will include an ugly sweater contest with a $50 prize for the ugliest male and female sweater, as well as an award for the “almost” ugliest sweater.

Stephen Talkhouse (161 Main Street, Amagansett, 631-267-3117, stephentalkhouse.com) is hosting several seasonal celebrations. Its annual Christmas Party will take place on Thursday, December 15th. Attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped, new toy or clothing that will be donated to children of local families in need through the East Hampton Community Council. The Talkhouse’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 10 p.m. The evening will feature Hello Brooklyn – a New York City-based hip-hop and pop band.
Those under 21-years-old can celebrate during a screening of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, 631-283-0967, southamptonartscenter.org) on Friday, December 16th at 7 p.m. SAC will award a prize to the attendee with the most hideous sweater.
