Navigating the dating scene at any age can be treacherous, but when you’re in your twenties, it’s filled with super awkward encounters. Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller star in “That Awkward Moment,” which takes a hilarious look at what it’s like to be single, young and attractive in New York City. The film made its debut in “The Big Apple” on Wednesday, January 22, at the Sunshine Landmark Cinema.
While in town promoting the film, the guys who definitely developed a bromance during filming, stopped by the “Today” show to dish on filming stunts in the nude, dating, and for Efron, life after rehab. The former Disney star seemed genuinely happy during the interview. “I’m in the best place I’ve ever been,” noted Efron. “I’ve never been this happy before and I’m extraordinarily grateful for these guys and to be here promoting this movie.”
“We’re so happy to be in New York, this is where we made the film,” he continued. “These guys are the best young actors that I’ve worked with.”
After “That Awkward Moment,” Teller can now add naked acrobatics to his already impressive resume. The star joked, “I was in Cirque du Soleil for about a month and really worked on my naked acrobatics.”
While relationship movies are generally categorized as “chick flicks,” this one comes from a unique perspective, the outlook from three single guys. So what does Jordan, the film’s “good guy” consider awkward? When a girl catches him off guard and he’s put on the spot, for example, “When a girl asks you a question that you weren’t really expecting.” The boys agreed, and Teller added the film addresses the always fun to answer, “So where’s this going?”
You can catch the three rising stars in “That Awkward Moment” starting on Friday, January 31.
