On Tuesday, January 24th, Jean and Martin Shafiroff hosted a planning party in anticipation of the New York City Mission Society’s annual Champions for Children Gala, which Jean will chair, once again, on Wednesday, April 5th. It will be held this year at the Mandarin Hotel, a nod to the Junior Committee that Cole Rumbough helms.

Jean has embraced the Mission Society ever since she toured their Minisink Townhouse facility and saw their programs for some of the city’s most underserved in action, one summer, several years ago.
“The New York City Mission Society makes a real – and lasting – difference in the lives of so many New Yorkers. Tonight, we are not just throwing a party; we are helping children,” Shafiroff told the room.

Added Mission Society President Elsie McCabe Thompson, “Through robust programs, events, and services, the Mission Society is leveling the playing field for New Yorkers who live in some of our city’s poorest neighborhoods. It’s important to step up, and use our hands and hearts to change lives for the better.”
