Acria held its annual benefit fundraiser at the private estate of David Kleinberg in East Hampton on Saturday, July 20 2013. Acria is a leading organization in HIV/AIDS education and research and is recognized as an international authority on the emerging issue of HIV/AIDS in older demographics. The cocktail hour featured a variety of hors d’oeuvres, music, an open bar, and an art auction, followed by dinner.
The event was sponsored by Coach with cocktails provided by Belvedere and beer supplied by Stella Artois. The cocktail hour took place under a tent the spacious grounds of Kleinberg. Under the awning was a fully stocked bar, walls of original artwork, and live music DJ’ed by Chelsea Leyland. Guests could meander through the area, picking up appetizers that included delicious mini cheeseburgers and coconut shrimp as they viewed the hanging paintings and photography. Interested parties could also place bids on the artwork electronically as they passed.
The evening also featured the release of a new lithograph created especially for the event by English artist Malcolm Morley. Top donors received a special gift bag that included the Morley lithograph and a limited edition Coach x Acria gift.
The event was attended by many supporters, including committee members and famed fashion designers, Calvin Klein and Francisco Costa, and actress Melissa George.
Money raised will help fund Acria’s various research and educational initiatives, including training workshops and publications that promote HIV health literacy.
