On Saturday, June 25th, The Retreat, the East End’s only comprehensive domestic violence services agency, hosted its 21st annual signature fundraising event, All Against Abuse, at the Ross School Lower Campus Field House in Bridgehampton. The A Night in Monte Carlo-themed soiree honored Dr. Joseph O’Connell with the 2016 Hope Award recipient and featured Guest Speaker Hannah Gross.
“We are honored that over 225 people came to celebrate with The Retreat last Saturday,” said Executive Director of The Retreat, Loretta K. Davis. “It was and unprecedented success that would not have happened without the support of our East End communities. We are so grateful.”
Previously titled Artists Against Abuse, the popular Hamptons benefit has raised over $2.3 million in support of The Retreat’s mission. What started off as a “plate auction” where famous and local participating artists created and donated beautiful plates that were auctioned off has evolved into something so much larger. The All Against Abuse benefit has become a celebration of the organization’s partnership with the community, and expanded to feature a formal dinner, dancing and a live auction that showcases exotic trips and unique experiences, as well as artwork.

During the benefit, Loretta K. Davis presented Dr. Joseph O’Connell with the NY Honoring 2016 Hope Award. Dr. O’Connell helps provide clients at The Retreat with the materials they need and has been instrumental to The Retreat’s success.
Former Board President and Retreat Client, Nicole Behrens is extremely grateful for all the support The Retreat receives from the East End communities. “Due to the generosity of those who attended this event, we can continue to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse,” she explained.
Everyone in attendance was blown away when student and former client of The Retreat, Hannah Gross shared her survivor story and her gratitude towards The Retreat for everything they have done for her and her mother, Nicole Behrens.
