The Chequit Inn, a critically acclaimed Shelter Island boutique hotel, is now for sale. The 18,726 square foot property, which includes three separate buildings – located at 23 Grand Avenue, 6 Washington Street and 9 Washington Street in Shelter Island, is listed for $9,000,000.
“We are excited to bring this tastefully renovated boutique hotel to market,” said Michael Gembecki of Cushman & Wakefield, the property’s exclusive agent. “The Chequit maintains its rich history and is enjoyed by local Shelter Island residents along with countless destination travelers.”
Built in 1872, the Inn offers 37 rooms, as well as event and meeting space. Its three historic structures were recently renovated, and the main building boasts 12,120 square feet – with over 19 rooms, a 3,500 square foot bar/restaurant, and 1,800 square feet of outdoor space. The Inn’s “Cottage House” features 5,406 square feet, and includes 11 rooms, while the “Summer House” has 1,200 square feet with six rooms.
The Chequit Inn, which is revered for its vintage, minimalist interior design and its cheerful color palette, earned the fourth spot on the 2016 Conde Nast Traveler‘s Hot List (for the United States) and has been covered in many other publications.
“The hotel has been featured in numerous publications including Conde Nast Traveler 2016 Hot List, Vogue, Hamptons Magazine, and The New York Post, and we expect interest from local, national and overseas investors due to its superior location and asset class,” Gembecki added.
While the property is being sold, management of the hotel property will remain the same.
