The top two sales in Amagansett in 2019, to date, are both located on the same street of the Hamptons hamlet. Owned by builder and developer Michael Frank, 121 Hand Lane was a finished new construction home, while 123 Hand Lane was purchased as land and is being developed into a custom home spearheaded by Michael Frank Building Company.
“I believe in over-delivering for my clients. I think people are looking for a different kind of building experience,” Frank explained. “They want someone to trust, to call, someone who responds, who genuinely cares. I believe I’m on the pulse of what the buyers are looking for – from floor plans to finishes. I understand their style and their expectations”
Saunders agent Terry Cohen represented Frank on the duo of sales, while Saunders Associate Broker Cathy Tweedy brought the buyer for 123 Hand Lane.
Frank notes that Amagansett Lanes, where the homes are located, is currently undergoing a transformation as older residents list their abodes and a new demographic, younger buyers that are fond of the laid back, beach-centric vibe, scoops up the homes. “They only desire to own in the Lanes, they won’t even look anywhere else,” Frank noted. “They desire more a beachy flip flop vibe than a cocktail party scene like the towns just west of them. In the Lanes they find the beach experience they’re looking for.”
The buyers “are willing to pay top dollar for a smaller house and less land as compared to, say, Bridgehampton to be in this beach community,” according to Frank. Amagansett Lanes’ central location is also a major plus. “From the Lanes you can walk to the beach or into town. The Lanes has a down to earth community feeling that people love,” he noted.
“I’m not building 20 spec houses a year. This allows me to be very involved in every aspect of a home build,” Frank added. “I’m most proud that every customer I’ve sold a home to I call a friend.”
