Real estate is more than a market—it’s the heartbeat of the Hamptons. Agents here aren’t just selling homes; they’re welcoming new neighbors, guiding residents through important life transitions, and fostering the relationships that make our community thrive. Simply, real estate agents know the Hamptons like it’s their job—because, well, it is.
Through this series, we introduce some of the remarkable real estate agents whose ongoing contributions make the East End of Long Island – The Hamptons.
Hamptons.com is proud to spotlight agents from Saunders & Associates, the leading locally owned and operated brokerage in the Hamptons. Beyond market analysis and negotiations, real estate is deeply personal—built on trust and connections.

Describe your career before real estate.
I spent 30 years managing luxury estates, catering to an exclusive clientele. My extensive background in luxury management provided me with a strong foundation in client service, and understanding the nuances of high-end properties, all of which continue to inform my approach to real estate today.
How did you get started in real estate?
In my previous career, I was not an RE agent, I was a butler, administrator, executive assistant/majordomo, an “Agent in Fact” for the Ross Family. I bought commercial property and homes – I was the fiduciary, power of attorney. I worked with some great agents, in fact, Saunders Agents (Shoutout Dick Baker). I managed 5 luxury homes in 4 countries.
That’s a lot of trust – I realized that I was doing the work of a real estate agent – it was a natural progression. I had an epiphany: My real passions in life—my family—are in the Hamptons. How can I stay closer to what I love? Real estate has made that possible.
How has the Hamptons changed since you moved here in 1982?
There is a more year-round community and lots more to do during the off-season—the summers have thankfully stayed amazing. It’s more international. For me personally, while my initial focus was on the luxury sector, I’ve since become well-known in the Hamptons for helping many local families find their starter homes.
What has been the key to your sustained success in the Hamptons?
Curiosity—I always stay engaged and work toward learning. I’ve been getting new accreditations, which help me specialize. The world moves fast, and I have to stay on top of it. Those “niche” specialties are really relevant, especially in the Hamptons.
My active participation in local board meetings has reinforced my commitment to staying informed about real estate laws, regulations, and community developments—it’s all about staying engaged.
Tell us about Treescape, how many have you sold?
Oh man, let me think… in 2024 and 2025, I had 5 sales in Treescape. The total is 11 since 2017. People love it here; the appeal is so obvious. I’ve personally owned a condo at Treescape for years—it’s such a hidden gem. Even the smaller units are desirable—I’ve sold more than a few. The location is fantastic, plus super low overhead.
How’s the family? Anything you want to brag about?
We are empty-nesters now! Our sons are figuring out their way: one is about to graduate from Baruch College in Manhattan, and the other is a freshman at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, both graduated from Ross. We are so proud of them both.
What are you up to when you’re not selling real estate?
My wife and I do everything together; we’re super-agers. We play tennis, paddleboard, and travel. We love the Hamptons and everything about the lifestyle here!
