There are few things in life more disappointing than ordering a “healthy” lunch and getting something that tastes like punishment.
So when I stopped by Round Swamp Farm and grabbed the steak lettuce wraps in an effort to eat healthier, my expectations were somewhere between, “This will be fine,” and, “I guess I should just eat a salad.”
I was completely wrong.
These things are ridiculous.
Tender, flavorful steak wrapped in crisp, fresh lettuce with just the right amount of seasoning and crunch. It’s the kind of meal that makes you forget you’re eating low-carb.
Round Swamp is an absolute madhouse. You’ll run into your neighbor, your coworker, someone you don’t like, and probably half the town. Everyone descends on this place. At Round Swamp, you’re lining up for chicken fingers, steak sandwiches, and some of the best prepared food on the East End.
And that’s really the magic of Round Swamp Farm. The quality of the food is so consistently good that it almost becomes an inconvenience. You stop in for a quick lunch, and suddenly you’re contemplating buying dinner, dessert, and half the prepared foods section.
The steak lettuce wraps may have officially become my new go-to low-carb lunch. They’re light enough that you don’t need a nap afterward, yet somehow they’re packed with more steak than just about any steak sandwich I’ve had.
Right now, Round Swamp is still king.
