Who doesn’t like a good fun run? Out of the many fun runs that take place in the Hamptons throughout the year, the Shelter Island 10K is among the best of the best. The event is sponsored by Penelope Moore of Saunders & Associates, the go to local real estate on Shelter Island who is highly respected in the industry and draws hundreds of people.
Proceeds for the event go to the Cohens Children Hospital as well as local Shelter Island charities including the Graduating Class, American Legion, the Ambulance Fund and more. The last race raised over $25,000 for charities on Shelter Island.
If a 10k run is too long for you, you can also do the 5k run. What’s also super cool if you are out of town, is the Hampton Jitney is offering round trip tickets to and from the race, including ferry tickets from four of their stops on Long Island and in New York City. The race is beautiful, and really gives an unbelievable tour of Shelter Island on a great scenic route. After the race, Greenport Harbor Brewing Co., a sponsor of the event is offering each racer a free beer as well as providing live music.
