On Thursday, November 14th, Almond Restaurant will host a special fundraising dinner in support of Slow Food East End, a local chapter of the global Slow Food movement. This event is a unique opportunity to enjoy an exceptional meal while supporting a cause that champions sustainable, locally-sourced food. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by a three-course family-style dinner paired with wines from Channing Daughters Winery, all served in a warm, community-centered atmosphere. A portion of the ticket sales will directly benefit Slow Food East End, helping to fund its efforts in promoting good, clean, and fair food for all.
“The Almond ethos and that of the Slow Food crew is basically the same. It’s about celebrating ingredients that tell a story. A story about the people that produce those ingredients and about whence those ingredients came,” shared Jason Weiner, Executive Chef/Co-Owner.
Since its founding, Slow Food has grown into a worldwide movement involving millions of people across more than 160 countries. The organization works to ensure that everyone has access to good, clean, and fair food—food that is delicious, nutritious, and produced in ways that support social equity and environmental sustainability.
The November 14th event at Almond Restaurant will showcase the best of the East End’s seasonal bounty, with a menu designed by Chef Jason that highlights locally sourced ingredients. The evening kicks off with a cocktail reception and passed hors d’oeuvres, such as home-spun feta with sword nduja crostini, Harry’s pork pâté with Jill’s green tomato marmalade, and Paul’s deviled eggs, setting the stage for a memorable meal.

Guests will then be treated to a three-course dinner served family-style. The first course features Crescent Farm duck bratwurst, served with balsam kraut, warm QHF papas (potatoes), pumpernickel bread, and mustard. For the second course, Chef Jason will prepare Pete Haskell’s mahi mahi, smoked, roasted, and glazed with a 24-month corn/almond miso. This is paired with a ragout of root vegetables, cauliflower/oyster mayo, and a touch of hot sauce for added flavor. Finally, the dessert course will feature Art’s raw milk yogurt with AW whole wheat streusel, topped with Jo’s gooseberries, Kerry’s figs, and Jen’s black apples.
Each course will be paired with wines from Channing Daughters Winery, a local vineyard renowned for its organic and biodynamic farming practices. These thoughtfully selected wines will complement the menu and enhance the dining experience, all while supporting a winery that shares the Slow Food philosophy of sustainability.
This evening promises to be an unforgettable experience. It will combine incredible food, wine, and community spirit in support of a cause that helps ensure good, clean, and fair food for everyone. By attending, you’ll be contributing to the continued success of Slow Food East End and its mission to preserve food traditions, protect our environment, and create a sustainable, equitable food system for all.
